Title: ab·so·lu·tion: a novel
Author: Ava Harrison
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 6, 2018
I was done with love.
When I opened my heart, it was for the men I couldn't have.
The unattainable ones.
The ones who would hurt me.
A vicious cycle I couldn’t seem to stop.
But I had a new resolve.
Focus on my career.
Stay single.
And then I met him.
Jace Montgomery.
A wounded widower with two young kids.
He was exactly everything I was avoiding.
So I did my best to stay away.
But then he kissed me.
And I fell.
Hard.
Hard for a man who would never be mine…
A man who was broken beyond repair.
A man who would break me.

(4 Stars)

Jace is dealing, or not dealing, with the loss of his wife. Sydney always picks the wrong man, the last one being a married one. When the two end up having a bit of chemistry Jace feels guilt, while Sydney is just thinking, another guy that is unavailable. Can Jace get over the guilt he feels? Will he prove to Sydney that he can be the man she is looking for?

So, I tried to keep in mind that everyone grieves differently, and there is no right or wrong way to do so. Jace's form was that of avoidance, he avoided dealing with his feelings and chose to work or drink himself to a stupor. This also had him avoiding his family including his twins. The avoiding his kids, is what made me not like him so much, but like I said, no right or wrong way to grieve. At one point I felt that Sydney was more of a babysitter, and that he treated her like crap... and the kicker was that Sydney kept coming back. This had drama, a tiny bit of a danger element, and some really good naughty bits. I give this 3.5 stars.
