I woke to Jaken's lips on the back of my neck.
"Good morning."
"Morning," he said as he kissed me again.
His kisses distracted me up to the point when his hand covered my breast.
I moaned and it sounded more like a question, but not a protest. He stopped kissing me. I looked at him over my left shoulder.
"Don't stop."
He continued sliding his tongue up the curve on the side of my neck as his hands went from over my shirt to under it. He made no attempt to take it off.
I pressed into him. He groaned. I groaned back, loving the sound.
He pulled away, and as I leaned back, he looked into my eyes as his hand moved down my stomach and into my shorts. He rested his hand on my pelvic bone, and I said a silent pray of thanks for getting that wax the other day. I felt bad about praying for something like that, but then he touched me, and all I could think...
Oh, my God, that feels good.
I moaned and my head fell back. I closed my eyes and his fingers continued to do things to me I didn't know were appropriate for a man who made his living with his hands. He hit one spot with his middle finger and I gripped his hand.
"Please," I whispered.
"Please what?" he said, and his tone made me open my eyes, his breath hot on my cheek.
"Don't stop." He gave me that grin again, kissed my nose, and pushed his fingers deeper between my legs.
"You want to come for me, baby?”
We had our eyes locked on each other, and the way he spoke to me, I felt like I was doing this for him instead of the other way around. A sense of pride swelled in my chest as a sense of something else swelled in my center.
"Yes," I said.
"Okay, come for me." He commanded.
I knew it was his fingers. The blood had rushed to the area he manipulated with them, but I swear I could have come on command even if he wasn't touching me. His voice had that kind of power. My toes curled and my fingers dug into his forearm. A wave of whatever power orgasms were made of rushed over me.
"That's it, baby," he whispered in my ear as I came back to the here and now. He swung a leg over me, as his phone on the nightstand began to buzz. We both looked at it.
"Oh, you're kidding me," I said.
He started laughing as he rolled over and sat on the edge of the bed. He turned off the alarm and turned back to me.
"I'm sorry." He leaned over and kissed me. "I have a tee time. I have to go."
"Fine, leave me here in bed alone." I flopped back. "Again."
"Well, at least this time I finished what I started." He headed into to the bathroom chuckling.
"Then why do I want more?" I asked myself.

Praise for A New Season

"I loved how the backstory was leaked in a little at a time to keep you hooked up until the end.. it was just really perfect!" - Amber@WickedGoodReads

"Ok, I admit it: I just really enjoy a good sports romance. This is certainly that, but it's more too as the characters are nuanced and well developed. String writing and a very nicely done plot. Truly enjoyable and, of course, therefore recommended!" -The Mysterious Amazon Customer

“I loved reading about Greek mythology the most when I was in high school.”
I turned toward Melanie who was staring at me. I wondered how long she’d been looking on or more so. How long ago did she move her chair to the side of the table, so we were sitting next to each other, rather than across from each other?
“I’m a huge fan of Greek mythology myself,” I respond.
“You are?” Melanie cocked her head to the side. A look of disbelief crossed her face and I tried not to laugh.
“I am. I loved studying about it in college. I took a couple of Greek mythology classes between History and Literature. I even took a Latin class as well. The culture intrigues me.”
“Same here. Anything I can get my hands on I love to read or watch about.”
“If that’s the case, I have a comic I’d love to show you. It’s about Persephone and Hades.”
Melanie quickly put her drink down and placed her hand over mine.
“Wait!” There was a stunned look on her face as she reached into her back pocket, bringing her phone out. It was only seconds before she was shoving the device in my face, showing me exactly what I’d been about to tell her.
“You mean Lore Olympus?!”
“Yeah,” I laughed at Melanie’s enthusiasm and when she pulled the phone away, I saw a genuine smile plastered across her face as she looked at me.
“It’s one of my all-time favorite comics and it’s not just the story but the illustrations as well. It’s just so cool to see the story come to life in a different way than just words or even so, the way most people read about it.”
“Exactly. We can see these Gods in our time and see them be almost human for a second. It’s quite a refreshing rendition to the Greek mythology world.”
“Did you see it was being optioned for a show too?!”
“I had not but that sounds exciting. I wonder if it will be animated the way it is in the comics or if they are going to change it.”
“I hope they’d keep it the way it is but if anything, seeing that story come to life would be amazing to watch.”
“I hope you wouldn’t make me watch it alone.”
It was a long shot but I stuck the comment out there in the open, hoping with how this coffee date was going, Melanie would sink into the words and move this in the direction I wanted it to go.
“Smooth move there, Jack.” She shook her head and leaned in closer to me, just like she had at the bar. “I said this wasn’t a date.”
“Yet here you are in a dress, sitting next to me, giving me the smile I’ve been so desperately wanting to get from you.”
“My smile?” She moved her hand to her lips and looked down at her drink.
I reached out, tucking my fingers under her chin and lifting her head up.
“You’re smile, Melanie.” I gave her a small smile myself. “Since I’ve known you, I’ve never seen the smile you give others directed toward me. Now, you’ve given me a smile that I’ve never seen you give anyone else.”

Cricket

Success is what you make of it. That’s my motto and the premise of my speech; the one I’m heading back to Southern Illinois University to give at my college alumni reunion. As the morning co-host of Good Morning, San Francisco, I was asked to be one of the keynote speakers, and while I’m honored to do so, there’s only one problem. The other speaker is Danny Ohara, my former boyfriend. Throw in an issue with my credit card that leaves me stuck at the airport, no rental car in sight, until a familiar face appears like a guardian angel in sexy black glasses.

Here’s my dilemma with my attraction to Rueben Rigsby, my airport savior and old friend from college: I’m not supposed to be attracted to him. At all. He’s my ex’s former roommate. Yet that doesn’t stop my big mouth from lying about the status of our relationship when we come face-to-face with said former roommate. As in, we have one.

Together.

Rueben

I don’t know why I agreed to come back to SIU for the alumni reunion, but I’m damn sure glad I did. When I found the familiar face stranded at the airport, I readily agreed to give her a ride. It’s great to catch up with Cricket Hill, as we make our way back to the place we ultimately met. What I’m not prepared for is this overwhelming attraction I feel for her. I’m not supposed to notice how amazing her butt looks in a pair of black yoga pants. She’s a friend. Period.

But Cricket has other plans. When she lies about our budding relationship to my former roommate and her ex, I have no choice but to go along with it to save face. I have to pretend to be her boyfriend. I mean, it’s one little white lie, right?

Wrong.

Excerpt

“We’ve never kissed.”
Oh God. My stomach plummeted with the minor chords. “No.”
“And physically we don’t know if we are even compatible.” His gaze swept over me. “I mean, you’re a wee lass.”
“Wee lass! Don’t you…”
“But.” His gaze intensified. Heaven crashed to earth and obliterated us.
“But?” Shaky and wanton, I warmed on the inside like a chocolate fondue.
“Since I’ve known you, it’s been the most natural thing to hold your hand. From the earliest days even when I knew I shouldn’t, I still did it. It felt like nothing and everything all at once.”
I breathed in slow. Lest I might pass out.
“So I think if holding your hand feels like everything, then what happens if I do this?”
I forced myself to maintain eye contact as, with his free hand, he used a finger to trail up my throat and along the edge of my coat collar. I held in my breath as he then ran it along my cheekbone, around my ear, slipping into my hair.
“You almost kissed me once.” I stuttered the words, each syllable gushed with the pound of my heart.
“I know.” I could taste his breath, feel the warmth of his mouth hovering just above mine. Sweet Sake and Matthew combined. I wanted to inhale him.
