(4.5 Stars)
So, lets start with, I thought this would be a book about baseball, you know the ones; ball player meets girl, girl is too into school and doesn't have time for a player of any kind, but he somehow convinces her to give him a chance so she does..... Yeah, this is NOTHING like that, in fact, baseball is mentioned, but not even close to what this story is about at all!
Sam is a college student that is busy trying to live with the guilt that her brother died years ago. I was still unsure as to why as I think she was a young child when that happened but maybe I just missed something. She is super structured, and really hard on herself, but she has a plan for her life and a goal and she is going to attain that goal. When she befriends the new girl across the hall, things start to take a turn for the weird. When she meets a guy that reminds her of Thor and makes her mouth water she just knows he is trouble and has to make sure she stays away. But that is easier said than done, when the friendship she has struck up takes her down a path that puts her in danger she has to rely on Blake to keep her safe.... something she isn't sure she can do as he has some major secrets.
So even though this was nothing like I thought it was going to be, it was a read that pulled me in. I am very unhappy to say that it is a cliffy.... so now I have to wait to find out what happens next :( With the action and a bit of mystery Maggie Jane Schuler has spun a very good tale that kept me on the edge of my seat for the last half of the book. I give this 4.5 stars.
Maggie Jane Schuler is a wife, mother of three almost-grown children, and teacher by day. While she has always loved to read, the thought of writing her own prose did not strike until she was in the middle of writing her Master’s Thesis. From that point on she was hooked.
She Resides in Southern California. Besides the family and books, she loves baseball. Since the Dodgers, Angels, and Padres are all within a short distance, and the Giants and Athletics a nice weekend jaunt away, she’s got plenty of games to take in during the season. Additionally, she enjoys cooking, movies, the beach, and the local mountains. She’s most content being with her family engaged in whatever activity they have planned.
