Title: Kenzie and the Guy Next Door
Author: R. Linda
Genre: NA Romance
Release Date: May 29, 2018
Publisher: Limitless Publishing
The last thing I expected was my ex-boyfriend showing up unannounced, demanding to see our son. The son whose existence he’d previously never bothered to acknowledge, leaving me a single mother at sixteen years old.
As if I’m not freaked out enough, I also have to deal with a loud, annoying new neighbour on top of it all.
Imagine my surprise when I discover my neighbour is none other than Jeremy, my best friend’s dangerously hot brother, who was recently released from prison.
I’m sure he’s a complication I definitely don’t need. But then he inserts himself effortlessly into my life, becoming my hero, my saviour, and someone my son can look up to, and I realize how much I actually need him.
But my ex isn’t backing off, making me wonder what he’s capable of—and how far Jeremy will go to keep us safe.

I was not aware when signing up that this is part four of a series. This is a prime example of when series should be read in order; with the list of characters who had their own story, and of course it's assumed that you read their book, so they just carry on as if you knew what they were talking about. The situation with Kenzie and her ex was not something new, and it seemed like it had been a running thing throughout the other books as well. The blurb made it seem like the ex pops back up out of nowhere and that wasn't the case. Its more the ex has been a bit of a bother to Kenzie, and some of the others from her group, but for Kenzie she shares a child with him, a child he wanted nothing to do with. When he decides for some reason he wants something to do with him, he starts showing up... they never really have a conversation, so we don't really know the exact reason but thats what we are lead to believe. Jeremy has just moved in next door, and in fact already knows Kenzie as she is his sisters bestie, he just didnt realize they lived in the same building. For Jeremy, Kenzie is everything that he wants, but he promised his sister that he wouldn't mess with her friends. But after witnessing Chase bothering Kenzie, Jeremy decides to step in and help out. Trying to make sure that he keeps his promise to his sister is hard, but denying this thing with Kenzie is even harder.
So, as a story this was just ok, the foreplay was more steamy than the actual sexy times. The situation with Kenzie's ex was very anti-climatic. The story as a whole was very anti-climatic for me, but it could be that I just wasn't connected to any of the characters. This was just not up my alley I guess. I give this 3.5 stars.
