The sign up did not specify that this was book four in the series. I will admit that this is my fault for not checking GR first as I normally do since this seems to be a very common thing for companies not to disclose this information. As this is book four and the previous couples were very much in this story, this did not flow like it probably should have.
Women are being captured and turned into wolves against their will, so that they can become mates. Maddie Stone seems to be a target and there is a group of wolves that are going to make sure that doesn't happen. Not really sure if wolves are a well known thing or if this is just something that Maddie knows somehow, the details are vague. When Griffin comes to join the pack that has Maddie in safe keeping, he quickly realizes that she is indeed his mate. Can he keep her safe in the mist of all this upheaval? Or will Maddie be the one that keeps herself safe and drives her mate crazy with her antics?
I love that there are so many different ways to do shifter books, and I love when authors do "new" stuff. This was indeed a new take on the shifter world and it wasn't a half bad one, but where I think the spankings and corner time were supposed to be more of the erotic variety, sort of a BDSM touch, they came off as weird and creepy. Maddie obviously doesn't learn her lesson, as she was "punished" twice for the same thing. The naughty times other than that were actually very well written. I muddled through but for the most part was a bit lost in some of the stuff that was going on. I ended up giving this 3.5 stars.
Maddie put herself in position, acknowledging to herself that Griffin was most definitely her alpha and the dominant partner between them. Her humiliation and pain were complete when she felt her juices dribbling down her thigh.
Griffin let her stand for just a few minutes before once again closing on her. He said nothing, but bent her at the waist.
