Title: Behind the Mask
Author: Abbi Cook
Genre: Dark Adult Romance
Release Date: February 9, 2020
I shouldn’t want the beautiful brunette who lives in that suburban cul-de-sac, but one glance
and I can’t think of anything else but taking her. The innocence in her dark eyes tells me she
has no idea what life in my world is like.
But she’s going to find out.
I control everything around me, and that includes Kaia now. At first, she’ll beg for her freedom,
but it won’t take long before she’s begging for something else.
Her world has changed. She’s mine now.

(3.5 Stars)
When Kaia gets kidnapped from her house, the last thing she
thinks is that her husband is the reason for this. No, she is sure this is just
a random thing... that is until her captor tells her the truth. Her husband
traded her for his debt, threw her under the bus, willingly gave her over with
no care in the world. Now Kaia has no clue what to think, she just knows that
she has to take this day by day and pray that the worst that happens is her
being kept in the basement with little food.
Ryker getting Kaia in a trade wasn't really how he wanted
things to go, and now that he has her, he isn't sure what to do with her. He is
sure of one thing, he wants her but he has more control over himself than to
take what he wants. Or does he?
The first of the series, and it seems like this is the
author's debut. Keeping that in mind, I will say this was a good first book. I
think that this author will get better as she goes, she shows some really good
promise. I give this 3.5 stars.
Abbi Cook grew up wondering if she was different because she always wanted to know more about the villain than the hero in the stories she read. When she got older, she found there were others in the world like her and devoured their writing, loving every dark word. She’s written her own tales for years, but in 2019 she decided it was time to take the next step and publish them. She’s never looked back since that day.
