Banner
Spurlock knew the moment that he walked into Kilgore High School and saw Perry
Street that life was about to get interesting.
Forced
to move due to a problem at home, a problem in the form of his ex-best friend
hating him for something that Banner’s father did, Banner doesn’t think very
much could improve in his life.
He
left his status as king of Benton High School behind and moved to a new school
where not only would he have to try out for a new football team and prove
himself, but he’d also have to find a place for himself in the hierarchy.
Only,
the moment that he arrives, he knows that finding a place for himself won’t be
too hard. Especially when his reputation follows him all the way to Kilgore,
Texas.
***
Perry
Street hates school. She hates her peers—most of them anyway—and she hates her
classes. All she wants to do is finish her senior year, graduate, and find a
place that will give her a full scholarship so that she doesn’t have to be
stuck here forever.
That’s
her goal, anyway.
Then
she walks into first period, on her first day of her senior year, and sits
down. Seconds later, he walks in and changes every single plan she’s ever made.
It
isn’t long before Perry starts to fall for the bad boy who doesn’t care who he
does and doesn’t impress. The boy makes her heart flutter. The boy makes her
want things that she’s never wanted before. Not ever.
The
boy brings trouble with him that nearly kills her.

After having lots of issues with an ex-friend, Banner
transfers to Kilgore High School to start afresh for his senior year. A new
town and school in your final year is not an ideal situation but at least he is
close (as in across the road) to his brother Ford (Maybe Swearing Will Help)
and sister Oakley (I'd rather Not) for it. On his first day he meets Perry, and
despite her being nothing like his usual type of girlfriend, he is instantly
drawn to the quiet, sporty, intriguing volleyball player. Thinking the year
might not turn out so bad after all, Banner discovers pretty quickly that he
may have thought too soon when he realises his troubles followed him after all.
Banner is Trance and Viddy's (Kevlar to My Vest) third and
final child to get a story and while yes this may be set in high school it
still has all you expect in a Lani Lynn Vale book; action, drama and romance. I
think it was a really good way to bridge from the original series of books to
what will be another spin off in Laniland without it being directly part of it
and I can't wait to see where LLV is going to take us. I give this 5
stars.

Only those that have read the previous stories and have
followed the flow of the series will understand the feelings that this story
gives. We watched as Trance and Viddy found their HEA, and now with this book
we watched the last of their children; first Oakley, then Ford and now Banner
and boy what a story we get. Due to circumstances not of his making, Banner had
to move schools in order to stay out of trouble. Now starting his senior year
at a new school, getting on the football team and finding his place in this
school, but this time starting without the trouble that plagued him at his last
school. Banner was already looking at having a better year and when he meets
Perry in his very first class he just knew that there was something about her.
Just when he thinks everything is going to be alright, the trouble from his
last school shows up. Now Banner has to be careful yet again and watch his back
at every turn, and not only his but Perry's too. Will he be able to keep his
temper in check or will he be pushed too far this time?
I almost want to cry, I just read Viddy and
Trance's last baby get his HEA and now their storyline is sort of done. Oh
there are plenty more coming from the previous characters and their kids, just
Trance and Viddy are one of my favs from the original crew. Banner's story was so
freaking amazing! The drama, danger, violence, football, and even though this
is dealing with high schoolers... really good naughty bits. I cannot wait for
the rest of the high school gang to get their stories told... something tells
me that LLV has some really good stuff in the works for them. I give this 5
stars.
