Things aren't always what they seem...
Some claim college is four years of trivial experiences, and a means to an end. I believed it when I structured my days in an endless set of routines. Then, I befriended Adriana. She brought with her baggage which would change my perception forever.
I also met Blake Angel.
What started out with some innocent flirting, wedged me, Sam Sawyer, under his wing for protection. Criminals stalk our every move, like a long game of cat and mouse. His playbook—well, ours—starts to unravel in front of us. He rules the world as coach, mentor, protector, and possibly my future. Over the course of time, my protector turns into my lover. Blake vows to save me and turn the world upside down to get what he wants. But this mess owns us, and somehow, we need to solve this puzzle of betrayal smothering us.
If not, we may lose this game and our happily ever after.

(3.5 Stars)

This book starts right where Up to Bat ends, so it's best to read them together, in order, for this to make sense or flow right. I just had to reread since I read book one last year and couldn't really remember any of the details, and I was so glad I did, I would have been so lost. So, Up to Bat ended with Sam being kidnapped and The Playbook starts running and doesn't stop at all, there is constant action happening; Blake trying to keep Sam safe from the situation that she has found herself in, while they at the same time try and live life to the best they can. With some ups and downs, Blake is constantly fighting Sam to show her they are meant to be together, even with all this chaos happening around them. Is all that is going on too much for Sam to handle? Will she have a breaking point, or can she muster through her doubts? And most important, can this team of CIA agents be trusted to keep her safe?

There was so much going on in this story, it was one hit after another, bam, bam, bam. I'm going to have to admit... I liked book one more than I liked book two. I was actually a bit let down with book two, not sure what I was expecting but I started to get annoyed with Sam very quickly. With violence, drama, and some lackluster naughty times, I give this 3.5 stars.

Maggie Jane Schuler is a wife, mother of three almost-grown children, and teacher by day. While she has always loved to read, the thought of writing her own prose did not strike until she was in the middle of writing her Master’s thesis. From that point on she was hooked.
She Resides in Southern California. Besides the family and books, she loves baseball. Since the Dodgers, Angels, and Padres are all within a short distance, and the Giants and Athletics a nice weekend jaunt away, she’s got plenty of games to take in during the season. Additionally, she enjoys cooking, movies, the beach, and the local mountains. She’s most content being with her family engaged in whatever activity they have planned.
