Dominic Anderson knows exactly what he wants in life:
simplicity, safety, and solidarity with his brothers. He’s vowed to spend each
day living his life exactly how he chooses since the day his wife betrayed him
and his four year military career turned into twenty.
Returning home after retirement from the Marines, he’s
traded the sand in the Middle East for that of the New Mexico desert, Humvees
for a motorcycle, and the comradery of men in uniform for the occasional woman
at his feet.
Life was perfect until Makayla “Poison” Evans, Renegade MC
Princess, knocked on his door, bruises on her face, neck, and arms, and no
money to pay the cab driver. Pink hair, perfect body, and a mouth that Dom
yearned to teach a million lessons, Mak asks more from him than he’s conceded
to a woman in decades.
She needs his help, his protection, and against his better
judgment, she expects him to keep her secrets. Only her secrets are deadly,
dangerous, and have the potential to start a war between two MCs.
At what point does safeguarding a woman become a betrayal to
the men Dominic calls his family? More importantly, can he get back the
sanctity of his home once Makayla is no longer in the picture, or will he be
forever tainted by her poison?

Mak's situation has gone from horrible to the absolute worse in the matter of an afternoon. With no choices left she runs, and somehow ends up on Dominic's front step. Once he realizes what the situation is, Dominic feels like he has no choice but to keep her safe and secure, with him, in his house. But the longer they are together, the harder it is to fight the pull, until Dominic just can't fight it anymore, but both know this is only temporary. What happens when Mak's situation catches up to her? Will they survive the fall out or will this really be the end?
I loved this! This was soo freaking amazing, Marie James is just getting better and better with every story she writes. The sexy times in this were so freaking hot! With some drama, and some really ugly stuff happening, this is a 5 star read all the way! I am so ready for Snatch's book, I can't wait!

Mak is the sister of Scorpion, President of the Renegades MC, a club that are on amicable terms with the Cerberus MC. When something happens to make her fear for her life, she runs and finds herself knocking on Dom’s door. They don’t know each other, apart from by name, and yet something about Mak makes Domenic take her in, determined to find out what the problem is and how he can help. He doesn’t however like that Mak wants to keep her arrival secret, meaning he’s either going to betray her trust by telling Kincaid that she is there, or he’s going to keep a secret from his brother, something he doesn’t do. When he hears her story though, not only is he determined that nothing will ever happen to her again, but he will find a way to get Kincaid and the MC brothers to help him make that true.
The reason for Mak running is so bad, you can’t help but feel for her, and I’m glad that things turned out the way they did. It was a really good story, and it was nice seeing what the club members were up to. Kincaid’s overprotectiveness of Em was quite sweet/funny to read. Oh and the sneek peek of the next book at the end… I. Can’t. Wait! As for Domenic, his story gets a big fat 5 stars from me.
