Author: Natasha Knight
Genre: Dark Mafia Romance
Release Date: July 18, 2016

Lucia

It all started with a contract signed by him, then by me, while our families watched. While my father sat silent, a man defeated, giving his daughter to the Benedetti monsters.

I obeyed. I played my part. I signed my name and gave away my life. I became their living, breathing trophy, a constant symbol of their power over us.

That was five years ago.

Then came the time for him to claim me. For Salvatore Benedetti to own me.

I had vowed vengeance. I had learned hate. And yet, nothing could have prepared me for the man who now ruled my life.

I expected a monster, one I would destroy. But nothing is ever black or white. No one is either good or evil. For all his darkness, I saw his light. For all his evil, I saw his good. As much as he made me hate him, a passion hotter than the fires of hell burned inside me.

I was his, and he was mine.

My very own monster.

Salvatore

I owned the DeMarco Mafia Princess. She belonged to me now. We had won, and they had lost. And what better way to teach a lesson than to take from them that which is most precious? Most beloved?

I was the boy who would be king. Next in line to rule the Benedetti Family. Lucia DeMarco was the spoils of war. Mine to do with as I pleased.

It was my duty to break her. To make her life a living hell. My soul was dark, I was hell bound. And there was no way out, not for either of us. Because the Benedetti family never lost, and in our wake, we left destruction. It’s how it had always been. How I believed it would always be.

Until Lucia.

Author’s Note: Salvatore and Lucia’s story is a steamy standalone romance with a happily-ever-after. No cliffhanger and no cheating. It is intended for mature readers.

“You’re getting wet.” Tristan lifted a finger and tucked a stray strand of hair behind my ear. I licked my lips nervously, my eyes locked with his. His touch set my skin on fire. I held my bottom lip between my teeth painfully, willing myself to feel anything other than my stomach rolling and the arousal throbbing between my thighs. His eyes darted down to watch my mouth as his lips parted lightly with his breath.
“Georgia,” he whispered as he leaned into me. His lips grazed mine and my eyelids fluttered closed.
Why wasn't I pulling away?
God, I needed to be pulling away, like two minutes ago.
I should have moved my chair away from his when I sat down. Being in Tristan's space did things to me, delicious things like the hair rising on the back of my neck and goosebumps dancing across my skin. My stomach flipped, my breathing hitched, and a slow ache settled between my legs.
“Tristan,” I breathed as he brought his hand to my jaw in a light caress, just like he’d been doing a minute ago to the weathered wood of the deck chair. I parted my lips and the air escaped my lungs in a rush.
“I don't know what this is between us, Georgia, but I want to find out,” he said on a breathy exhale.
“Me too,” I whispered and pressed my lips to his. His soft, slightly salty lips tasted heavenly as I ran my tongue along them. He opened his mouth and our tongues brushed together as his hand cupped the back of my neck, fingers threaded in my hair, thumbs brushing my cheeks. He pulled me closer to him and before I knew it I was adrift in the heady sensation of Tristan.
I lost myself for those few blissful moments attached to his lips. I knew there was a reason I shouldn't be doing this, but for the life of me, I couldn't remember what it was. I ran my palm up his arm and over his shoulder to tangle in his hair.
But the hair was too long. It didn't feel right. It was foreign, and yet the pull I felt to continue to kiss and caress was undeniable.
“Kyle.” I pulled away quickly, mumbling the name. I licked my lips where Tristan’s salty-sweet taste lingered. The feelings that were swirling inside my body and filtering through my head were terrifying and new and right all in the same breath. Tristan watched as my thoughts aligned.
“I’m sorry. I don't know what just happened or why I said what I did, but it can't happen again.” I rushed back into the safety of the house, leaving Tristan alone in the rain.

Excerpt

A throat clearing draws my thoughts back to the present and my attention away from the window. Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome stands at the end of my table.  He inclines his head toward the chair across from me, his eyes still studying me intently.  “Is this seat taken?”

I shake my head, mute, goosebumps skittering over my skin at the sound of his voice, and my diaphragm paralyzed again.  His lips curve even more, more of a smirk than a smile. He folds himself so that he sits across from me, his glass of red wine on the table in front of him.

I take a drink of my own wine, needing something to do and a way to clear the blockage that has formed in my throat.  After a couple of swallows I think maybe I can get some words out.  “I didn't invite you to take it.”  I lift an eyebrow, hoping to come across as coy and flirty, and take another sip from my glass.  My voice rasps the words out, an indication of his effect on me, but I don't sound like I'm choking, so that's good.  God, what is wrong with me?  Why am I reacting like this?  I'd chalk it up to being tired from the drive, but I stayed with Brian and Jenna for a couple of days before coming down here, and it's only a few hours from their house to Walla Walla.

He laughs, throwing back his head like I just told a great joke.  My other eyebrow raises to join the first.  What the hell?

He calms down and leans his forearms on the the table, his fingers spinning his glass by the stem.  “No, I suppose you didn't.  Usually when a woman doesn't want a man to join her, she says the seat is taken even if it isn't.  At least in my experience.”

“You get rejected a lot?”

He laughs again, though not as much as before.  “Not especially, no.”

I nod.  Not surprising.  With his smooth confidence, it’s hard to deny him what he wants. “You could've wanted the chair for another table, though.  In which case it would be rude of me to say it's taken when it clearly isn't and deprive you of a needed chair.”

He gives a pointed glance around the nearly empty space. When his gaze returns to me, he raises an eyebrow and takes a drink of his wine.

“Fine.  Point taken.”

“Would you like me to leave you alone?”  The smile has fallen from his face, his gaze still intent, but sincere.

I drop my eyes to consider that for a moment, toying with my glass.  Do I want him to leave me alone? The way he flusters me with just his presence alone makes me think I should send him packing, my sense of self-preservation strong.  The same smooth confidence that makes him hard to deny has my senses on high alert. Pierce was smooth and confident at first, too. After his betrayal, I haven't been interested in guys or relationships.  But something about this man makes me want to see where tonight could go.  There's no harm in sharing a table with an attractive man while we each drink some wine, is there?  What's the worst that could happen?

Review by: Melanie
(4.5 Stars)

I'm really enjoying this series from Hayley Faiman.

Book 2 gives us Sniper/Bates's story when Kentlee's little sister, Brentlee, finally finds the strength to leave her abusive, douche of a husband.  With her 3 year old daughter Stella in tow, she runs to her sister and her husband Fury, the President of the Notorious Devils MC. What she didn't expect to find, was the one person she's only ever truly loved... her high school sweetheart Bates Lukin, who just happens to be one of Fury's MC brothers, known as Sniper.

This is a second chance love kind of book, as they both try to move past what happened back when Brentlee was just 15, and the nightmare that Brentlee has dragged herself out of. Bates has some major "f- up" moments in this book though, along with some incredibly sweet moments, especially with how immediate his love of Stella is. Brentlee was written well as she tried to become the girl she once was, despite how her husband had torn her down.

I enjoyed this and am looking forward to book three. I give Rough and Raw 4.5 stars.
