He’s always made the scoring plays, both on and off the ice, but this time he has a new goal … the one for Meghan’s heart.
I’m Justin Davis, all-star center for the Charlotte Strikers. For years, I chased the spotlight, not only with hockey, but through television as well. That’s why I decided to play the bachelor on Rich and Single. Unfortunately, I was stuck with a fake fiancée from hell who I couldn’t stand to be around. Now that our contract is up, I’m allowed to do whatever I want, with whoever I want. I plan to take full advantage of my newfound freedom.
After being on the show, people don’t recognize me for hockey anymore, even with just winning the Stanley Cup for my team. That’s why I’m spending the off season in a remote cabin in Wyoming where the chances of people knowing me are slim. Space is what I need, but when a down to earth beauty needs help on her ranch, I can’t resist. Meghan Taylor is exactly what I’ve been looking for, even though I’m not the kind of man she wants.
Getting her to see the real me has its challenges, but the more time I spend with her, the easier it is for her to see that I’m not the same guy she knows from TV. Being away from the media is one thing, but as soon as I’m back in the spotlight, I’m afraid it’ll change what we have. I don’t want to lose her, but I also can’t hide away in Wyoming forever. It’s a choice I’m not ready to make.

Throughout the past books we have watched Justin and his stint in the Hollywood reality spotlight. First with the show and then the year that he had to spend with the fiancée that he chose. We also know just how big a mistake that whole thing was. Now, the year is over and Justin has dropped the fiancée like a hot potato and left N.C. to sort of hide in Wyoming where no one would expect him to be. With his life being picked apart by the media, he just wants to be in a quiet place and figure out his next step in his life... other than hockey that is. When he gets to know the neighbor, Meghan, he wants to pursue something more than friendship, but he knows its not fair to drag Meghan into the mess that has become his life. Will Meghan be willing to take a chance on Maddox, or will she pass?
This was such a good story. I really enjoyed the journey of Justin and the growth of his character throughout the series. Meghan's story was actually a bit sad, and there were a few moments that I teared up. I completely understood her fear with pursuing a relationship with Justin. Love that we get to see the previous couples and sort of catch up. I give this 4 stars.

Kristen is starting over in N.C. after having left her previous life rather abruptly. Now she works at a bar where hot hockey players come in and flirt with her. Kellan being one of those hot hockey players but Kristen knows what the score is, and doesn't really put too much effort in getting to know Kellan. When she actually does make an effort, she realizes that he is nothing like what she thought, and feels bad for judging him. How will Kellan feel when she tells him about the real reason she is in N.C? When her past comes back to haunt her, will Kellan be able to save her?
So as much as I love L.P. Dover, this fell flat for me. Not quite sure why, could be that I felt the secrets came out way to quickly and freely, it was like, let me tell you all of this, but I still wont tell you my name, or the twist I saw coming. This was just an ok read, and I give it 3.5 stars.

Dallas is just like the most of the players on the hockey team, all about the ladies but just for that one night of fun. So when Callie is now all he can think about, its a new thing for him. Callie knows all about hockey players and their quest for things they can not have, after all her brother and cousin are the same as the rest. When Dallas starts making it clear that he wants Callie, she has a few... tests to see if he is just trying to play the field. When he passes those tests Callie gives him a chance, even though everyone is telling her not to. Will this chance play off or end up biting Callie in the rear end?
This was, IMO, so much better than the first of this series. I loved everything about Callie and Dallas, from the tests, the drama, this was a very entertaining read. I'm ready for the next in this series, I give this 4 stars.

This is the third book in the Breakers series, and just for the sake of returning characters and mentions of previous happenings, I would say to read the previous books before diving into this one. When Lacey and Maddox ran into each other at the party in Dallas and Callie's book, we knew they had known each other before that, we just didn't know how well. Now, we finally get their story. Maddox let Lacey walk away before, he won't make that mistake again.
So, the blurb is a bit ambiguous, meaning you will not get much from me. I will say that I did really enjoy the story of Maddox and Lacey. Drama, a few funny bits, really good naughty moments, and a cast of characters that bring the story together. There were a few plot issues, but nothing major. I give this 4 stars.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author L. P. Dover is a southern belle living in North Carolina with her husband and two beautiful girls. Before she began her literary journey she worked in periodontics, enjoying the wonderment of dental surgeries.
