Blog Tour & FULL SERIES REVIEW***A New Life Series by Samantha Jacobey***

A note from MJ's Book Blog and Reviews
The Organization are like the eye of a flower. They are the feeder, the heart of exactly what it is called, an Organization. There are three "petals" on this flower. The "Spiders", the "Scorpions" and the "Dragons".  The Organization distribute orders to these petals, and the orders are followed... until the mission in completed.

Captive - A New Life Series Book 1

Book 1 of a New Life Series - Formerly 'Life of Recovery'

To what lengths would you go to break away from a life filled with pain and suffering?
Tori Farrell has lived a dangerous life. When you grow up with a Motorcycle Gang of Mercenaries and Drug Lords like the Dragons, a normal life is more like a fairytale. For years, she accepted her dark reality, a world consisting of drugs, sex, violence and murder. In the end, she learned the most valuable lesson: survival.

After years of being ruled by the Dragons, Tori uses her skills of seduction and assassination to free herself from the grasp of the people who vowed theywould never let her go. Taken in by the FBI, she fears not everything is what it seems, and soon finds herself lost in a web of lies and deceit. She thought getting away from the Dragons would put her on a path to a new and better life, but now she must face the cold hard truth; there is always a price to be paid.

Wow. After being found in a house full of dead men, Tori is "held" by the FBI until she is well enough to recount her story as to how and why she was able to take out these 11 dangerous men, all by herself. (This may sound like a huge spoiler, but it's what we learn in the prologue).

Anyway, Captive takes us through Tori's memories, and her interactions with these 11 men and then Eli Founder, the Special Agent assigned to Tori's case. And OMG what a story it is. Violence, strong language, abuse, sexual situations, some of which will definitely be triggers.

Now I realise, you may read this and think, "why would I want to read something like that?" and I get that, I know I haven't exactly made this book sound appealing, but I swear, all these things are important to the story and I personally loved it.

Tori was honest and direct, something I think we could all do with being every now and then, and although her story was actually pretty heart breaking, she's a great character. I can't wait to start book two, which is where I'm off to as soon as I finish writing this review.

Bound - A New Life Series Book 2

Book 2 of a New Life Series - Formerly 'Life of  Doubt'

Raised by bikers and held by the FBI, Tori Farrell has literally walked over dead men to get to where she is today.

When she broke the ties to her dark and twisted life with the Dragons, she thought it would give her a fresh start and a chance to live a normal life. However, she soon discovered the demons from her past have no desire to let her go.

Bound to a halfway house under orders of the FBI, Tori takes things day by day, working to move forward and to face her own addictions. With her true identity a mystery and no family to turn to, she must learn to accept the love and support of those around her. When a mysterious and charismatic man walks into Tori’s life, she believes she’s finally found someone who wants her for who she is. But sometimes danger doesn’t hide cloaked in darkness. It comes out into the light of day in the form of a smooth talking bad boy who appears to be everything you’ve been looking for, but is really the one thing you should be running from.

Bound sees Tori sent to Los Angeles for 6 months to stay in a halfway house. Partly so that Tori can have a chance at learning what "normal" life is: work, family, rules and partly because due to Dr. Bennet's declaration of her age, they are giving her a chance to prove herself, so that she can be emancipated from the care of the system.

Nowhere near as much action/drama in this one, it really is just a story of Tori learning to live. There are some things that pop up, but if I mention them, they will give some spoilers I think, so I'd better not. I will say though, that we get a slight glimpse that Dr. Bennet, Agent Godfrey and maybe others are all working on a plan together involving Tori's future.

It was nice to see Tori grow as a person and she actually seemed to care about the people around her. The ending scenes even had me choking up a little. I think I know where Tori's story is going to go, so we'll have to see if I'm right or not.

A slight cliff hanger ending has me eager to read book 3 now. I give Bound 4 stars.

Entwined - A New Life Series Book 3

Book 3 of a New Life Series

There is nothing crueler than getting a taste of something you’ve fought hard to reach, only to have it ripped away, sending your world into a tailspin

Tori wants to put the past behind her, but it’s a daunting task when you have the FBI trying to force you back into the life you’ve escaped. When a ghost from her past visits, it could be the leverage they need to do exactly that; put her back into the game of murder and deceit. Tori has decided to run, in an attempt to protect her new friends, by fleeing from LA.

Wanting a place to call home and feel safe from the madness, she sets out with a plan to disappear and hide in anonymity. Her idea only holds one flaw; a man she can’t shake, who won’t take 'No' for an answer.

She soon discovers that getting a new life means she must first lay to rest the demons of her past.

Book 3 sees Tori and her unexpected travel companion making a bus trip across America, while she decides where she is running to. Once she reaches her destination, and Tori decides how she wants to settle into her new life, she has to decide whether to let him stay, or make him leave. That's if he'll even go, now he's gotten to know her and he's come to realise that not only was his initial impression of her, far from the reality, but he's found out for himself, just how easy she is to love.

The way Tori adjusts to a "normal" life in "normal" small town America is quite sweet, entertaining and even pretty funny at times. Especially her interactions with Michael.

After two books of what I would call a nice, learning to live story (with of course, some harrowing memories), there are a few surprises in this one, and a couple of unwelcome visitors at the end seem to indicate that things will get going again in book 4. Which is right where I'm heading when I finish writing this.

I'm enjoying this series, and give ..... 4 stars.

For years, Tori's drug of choice was alcohol, but through hard work and self-determination she has learned to exist without it. Suddenly faced with her true identity, and the danger of having friends and family destroyed by the world she left behind, she finds herself once again lost in a dark world filled with sex, drugs and murder.

She thought that a life of normalcy is what she wanted most, but when she gets a small taste of the dangerous life she once lived, she is forced to face the facts... not all of the demons are found on the outside.

(4.5 stars)

Well, things definitely sped up in this one. After a shock discovery right at the start, Tori sends Michael back home with Indelible in tow. Tori however, sets off to end things once and for all with the Scorpions, another "petal" of the Organization.

Enlisting Enrique, the two head into the lion's den together and Exposed becomes the story of Tori, unfortunately having to revisit her past life, while formulating and executing her plan.

This book is pretty fast moving, plenty of action, lots of secrets and surprises revealed; meaning for the reader, we get a lot of answers to some questions the previous books left us with.

I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to diving into Book 5.
4.5 stars for this one!

Indelible - A New Life Series Book 5

What do you do if you discover the life you’re living isn’t the one you were meant to have?

Tori Farrell’s path has been a long one. She was raised by a Motorcycle Gang called the Dragons, trained as an assassin, and lived by the sword in a world consisting of drugs, sex, violence and murder. She made her escape, and even successfully thwarted a second attempt to draw her back in.

Returning to her safe new life, Tori faces unforeseen challenges, as the discovery of her Rock Star relation, Brian Madson, gives way to the desire to have the life she was born to live. Haunted by fear, and caught in a fierce battle between her husband and brother, she must learn to accept her dark past and face her future boldly.

The FBI and The Organization still linger in the shadows, and time is creeping forward, pushing her to choose. Which path will she take, and where will it lead, when she is forced to decide between destiny and fate…

Tori has returned home after completing her mission, to find Brian and Michael not exactly on the same page about what is best for her. Eager to move on with her life, but not exactly impressed with the surprise and ideas Michael has for her, Tori is starting to question her future with him. However, after an urgent call has her and Michael rushing to Los Angeles, Tori's worries are put on hold.

At this point, Indelible turns into a story about Tori, Michael and Brian learning to live with each other, and Tori deciding once and for all, just where she wants her path to take her.

Like the previous books in the series so far, I enjoyed this one, but after the high of
Book 4:Exposed, the brakes were definitely put on again with Indelible, and it was more story than action. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, far from it, but I'm hoping the last two books pick up again and finish the series out strong. Indelible gets 4 stars from me.

Intrepid - A New Life Series Book 6

When past and present collide, how do you escape your fate?

Tori Farrell is finally on the path that leads to a bright future. Raised to be an assassin, she lived in a world consisting of drugs, sex, violence and murder. Gaining her freedom, and discovering her true identity, she has reconciled the life she was born to have with the one she fought so hard to flee. Managing to hold on to her soul mate, she is pushing forward, refusing to allow the fear to hold her back any longer.

Taking her place in her brother’s band, Tori faces new challenges. Learning to live the life of a rock star seems easy enough, and she quickly gets a handle on what she holds most dear. Soon enough, the tables are turned, with the realization that the FBI has merely taken to the shadows, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Only when her former lover forces his way back into her life does it become clear; some things are simply meant to be...

(3.75 stars)

Another "story" one, Intrepid sees Tori joining the band and attempting to handle the world of celebrity. Of course, by now, we know that Tori's attempts at "normal" never really end up going quite to plan and so there are a few blips now and then.

Adding to all this, a pair of surprise guests on Christmas day cause tension with Michael, confusion for Tori and, after the first real family Tori has known is attacked,  the FBI to finally, in a fashion, show their hand.

The scene has been set. The secrets are, for the most, part revealed. The time has come for Tori, to finally do what needs to be done, and take down the Organization, before they take down her and everyone she loves.

Although I still enjoyed this one, until the last few chapters there wasn't really that much that happened exactly, so for me it's the lowest rating of the series at 3.75, only to show how it rated against the other instalments for me. Going off how it ended though, the series finale, Avenged, should be a corker. Bring it on!

Avenged - A New Life Series Book 7

To what lengths would you go to protect the people you care about most?

Tori Farrell has lived an incredible life. Raised by a Motorcycle Gang, trained to be an assassin, and a target of the FBI, having a normal life became an obsession. Taking her place in her brother’s band, she refused to let her dark and dangerous past force her to remain in hiding. The only problem with that was, some knew who she was in her former life.

The halfway house burned to the ground and her friends in imminent danger, it is time for Tori to take a stand. Surrounding herself with the strongest and darkest men that she can trust, she sets out on the greatest adventure of her life: to bring The Organization to their knees.

Will they make it through the maze of lies and deceit? Will the FBI turn out to be friend or foe? And most importantly, will they all survive, as Tori makes her push to be avenged…

It's over. I have reached the conclusion to the series. It's going to be weird reading something else now I think after being engrossed in Tori's world for the past couple of weeks. So what to say about Avenged?

Best. One. Yet.

It really was a great ending to a good series. Tori (and her tag along team) executed her plan well, and as the title suggests, the wrongdoings were Avenged. It had action, it had romance, it had a couple of yays, awws and even a few seriously!'s, lol, but ultimately it was a fitting end.

I don't think anyone would be disappointed who gives this series a try although I will warn there are some dark bits in it. I give Avenged a 4.75.
