Zane has learned everything he knows from his father, the
most dangerous biker of The Devil’s Dust MC. He devours the darkness with a
cocky grin and no fucks to give. His immoral obsessions barely keep him content
in a life of chaos and havoc until he finds himself craving more.
Addie doesn’t need the risk that comes with Zane... that is
until her perfectly orchestrated life takes a sudden turn and she’s
left with nowhere else to go.
She's sunshine and charities, he’s bullets and ecstasy.
Will he step out of his hell and into her bed knowing it’ll mean that he’s dragging her into the depths of his criminal world?

The first next generation book in the Devil's Dust series gives us Zane (fittingly, the child of the first couple Dani and Shadow) and Addie's story. Addie being the daughter of Doc, Bobby's Ol' Lady from book 3. Zane has a very dark side to him that led him to eventually drive Addie away, along with the club's rule that as children of the club they couldn't be together, Zane felt Addie would be better off far from him. The pair pined for each other though, and now years later Addie has returned and Zane won't let her go again. He might not get the choice though if an old enemy of the club has their way.
This was a really good story. It referred to Shadow being dark and Zane being just like him, but I personally don't think Shadow was dark. Zane on the other hand is as dark as dark can be. I get why he wanted to keep Addie away but they obviously needed each other and that was really nice to see their relationship develop and how Addie calmed Zane's demons. I did feel that maybe the author though the characters were younger than she has said they were as Addie is almost 30 in this book but in some respects she was still treated very much like a teenager. That could just be my view on it though of course. And those final scenes.. please say there's going to be more next gen books Missy so that we can find out what happens with all involved. Another great read in this world and I really hope there is more to come, I give The Blood That Drives Us 4.5 stars.

I do suggest reading the previous Devils Dust MC books before this one, this is a spin-off/second gen and it would just make more sense if you do. You would know who goes with whom and whose kid is whose and all that jazz. It just makes this a better read if you do.. Zane is the son of Shadow and Dani.
OK, so first off lets talk about the timeline problem that really does create a plot hole. Addie is supposed to be 29 during this story, which would make her mother in her late 40's (at earliest) early 50's, so the side story of Doc and Bobby makes no sense. Along with the timeline, there are a bunch of editing issues and sentences that didn't seem to be finished. Putting all that aside and not letting my rating be affected by those issues I will say I really like Zane and Addie's story. The danger, violence, the naughty times weren't as good as I know M.N. Forgy can write them, but they weren't horrible either. I was actually a bit disappointed in the other kids and how they are portrayed in this story, Piper namely. I am looking forward to the next story in this series, I give this 4 stars.

About M.N. Forgy
M.N. Forgy was raised in Missouri where she still lives with her family. She's a soccer mom by day and a saucy writer by night. M.N. Forgy started writing at a young age but never took it seriously until years later, as a stay-at-home mom, she opened her laptop and started writing again. As a role model for her children, she felt she couldn't live with the "what if" anymore and finally took a chance on her character's story. So, with her glass of wine in hand and a stray Barbie sharing her seat, she continues to create and please her fans.
