I loved a boy.
Gavin Lodge.
He was sweet, gentle, kind and he made me feel alive.
Letting him go was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life.
A hundred times I wished I had done things differently.
A thousand times I wished I had gone with him.
A million times I wished he had chosen me.
I didn’t. Neither did he.
Now he’s back.
No longer a boy, but a man.
I can’t love him.
It almost destroyed me once and I won’t let that happen again.
That should be the end of it.
And maybe it would have been…
If someone wasn’t trying to kill me…

This is the second book, the first book, Letting You Go, must be read before reading When You Were Mine. When You Were Mine picks up thirteen years after Gavin left Luna and Stone Lake behind. Having moved on with help from Agent Dern, Gavin is now the FBI agent he had dreamed of becoming. When a case takes him back to Stone Lake, Gavin has no desire to go back there. Back to the town that let him down in his youth, back to Luna who chose that town over him. Going back is hard but having to work with Luna proves harder. When the case that brought Gavin back takes a turn for the worse and is showing the same signs of the same killer from long ago, the two end up working closer than they had hoped. What happens when those feelings prove that what they had isn't dead? Is there a way to get over the past hurts and make something work? Can they survive the serial killer that has targeted Gavin and all that he loves?
I loved everything about this story. Mystery, suspense, gruesome killings, drama, hot naughty bits; this was an amazing read that had me hooked! I give this 5 stars.
