(4.5 stars)
So here we are at the series finale, and L.A. Cotton hasn't
let us down. For me, I think Redemption and Regrets could even be the best
one.
After going to prison 4 years earlier, Braiden Donohue
wasn't exactly one of the "favourite" characters in this series. All
the terror and grief he put not only Ana, but also his supposed best friend,
Jackson, through in the first 2 books was not the way to win reader love.
However, he's served his time, he's survived prison, and now he's no longer the
angry, self proclaimed "King of Chastity Falls Academy".
At 26 Braiden is released into a world he no longer knows
and doesn't know where he fits. He does however know that what he did was wrong
and is determined to redeem himself, he just doesn't know where to start. I
think L.A. did a great job writing how Braiden may be feeling, how he reacts to
the new people and places in his life, and even the way he is with the only
family member he has left; his twin sister Briony.
Braiden's story deals with him finding himself, finding his
place and finding love... all this while "friends" from his past try
and sway him to their side in an upcoming power struggle. I think that's about
as much as I can say without putting spoilers.
I enjoyed this, and I'm honestly a little sad to see this
series end, but L.A. Cotton certainly ended it on a high note. I'm giving
Redemption and Regrets 4.5 stars as there were just a couple of tiny things I
wanted to know a bit more about which is stopping me giving it a 5.
About L.A. Cotton
Contemporary romance and romantic suspense … written with feeling L.A is author of contemporary romance novels ranging from sweet with just a hint of steam, to suspenseful reads full of angst, tension, twists and turns. Home is a small town in the middle of England where she currently juggles being a full-time mum to two little people with writing. In her spare time (and when she’s not camped out in front of the laptop) you’ll most likely find L. A immersed in a book, escaping the chaos that is life.
