You murder a man, and all of a sudden people are scared of
you.
Slate Solis went from being a guy that people went to in
times of need to an ex-con that people crossed the street to avoid being too
close to.
He knows he’s done wrong, but out of all of his sins, only
one really bothers him—coveting thy neighbor’s wife.
Harleigh Belle—the cute little lady that never gives him a
second glance.
After seeing her for the first time while he was in prison,
she’s stayed on his mind for three long years. Each time she comes in to visit
with her friend on family day, he can’t help but stare.
Then the day comes that he’s set free, and he’s almost
disappointed that he’ll never see her again.
Except fate has different plans.
He hasn’t been back in his house for more than three hours
when he sees her.
Harleigh Belle in all her glory… oh, and her husband that is
everything Slate isn’t.
He tells himself that her being fifty feet away from him,
all day every day, is a complete coincidence.
One that he shouldn’t take
advantage of. The more time passes, the harder it gets to stay away. Until one
day, and one very ill-timed thunderstorm, ruin everything.
Who knew that baby-making-weather was a real thing?

I'm just going to say it, if you have not read from Boomtown on, you are seriously missing out on some feels! There is something about second gen books that I love, and Harleigh's story is just a bit more special for me, as her parents are one of my favs! By now you know that almost all of LLV's books connect in some way or another, so it's not a surprise that Slate, Izzy's brother, gets his own book. Slate, a former cop that went to prison for murder, actually gets sort of recruited by Free and also by the Bear Bottom MC. Now released on parole, Slate is looking forward to having freedom and solitude, the last thing he needs is his neighbor sleeping in his hammock and encroaching on his property. It doesn't matter that she is the first woman in years that he is interested in, he knows that nothing can come from it, she is after all his new boss' daughter. All it takes is one moment, one moment in time where everything about their situation changes, Slate stops fighting the pull and Harleigh is more than ready for him to make his move. Will it all turn out to be a huge mistake for the two of them?

I loved everything about this story, the movie that played in
my head was amazing. Getting to see everyone is always nice. This story had
drama, danger, violence, funny bits, and some really hot naughty bits. I give
this 5 stars and am so ready for what's next!

Slate has finally gotten released from prison and after a few weeks living with his sister Izzy and her husband, and fellow Bear Bottom MC brother Rome, he returns home. Looking forward to some peace and quiet and not having to follow anybody's rules he is shocked and irritated to find his feisty, beautiful, neighbour Harleigh sleeping in his hammock. Enjoying riling each other up, this story ends up being a sort of enemies to lovers type thing, although the enemies part was more fun than anything else and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This was yet again, another great read from Lani Lynn Vale and I can't wait for whatever comes next. I give F-Bomb 5 stars.
